Unicorn Voyage
You are at college studying Animation, Post-Production or Computer Science with Math. Within a few months, you will have your diplomas in using various softwares, or your honours degree with portfolio, and a showreel that demonstrates experience of different techniques with CGI or animation software. Now is the time to begin to seek employment.
Investigate the industry specific publications where job ads appear, such as Mandy, CreativeHeads or Grapevine. Investigate websites of employers (see below), because almost all employers in this field recruit some specialists through their websites.
Check out the employment regulations for the country where the job is based. Animation and digital effects workers are international professionals, but national restrictions and visa regulations are local and stringent. Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States all have different criteria; find out from their government online resource how you can qualify for a work visa. It would be very unusual for the employer to obtain work visas for incoming new staff.
